Stop LNP’s power grab

Stop LNP’s power grab

The Qld LNP government is pushing through laws that could give the Coordinator General and Dept Premier Bleijie sweeping new powers to fast-track projects like coal and gas mining

These are the laws that we’ve been fearing - the LNP has been promising the mining industry to fast track mines since they were first elected

Yet again the LNP is rushing extreme laws through Parliament keeping the public in the dark and only giving a short amount of window to comment and engage. This is in spite of the fact that community and private property rights are impacted.

  • I’m a constituent and care deeply about regional Queensland, farmers and safeguarding our land and water resources for generations to come
  • I urge you as our region’s representative to speak up and protect Queensland’s land and water from projects that could get approval without proper scrutiny
  • I am appalled that Deputy Premier Bleijie is giving himself sweeping new powers to fast track mining and other projects and bypass environment and heritage laws
  • It’s extremely concerning that companies will also be given more rights to seize private land for their mining or other developments.
  • It is shameful that the bill would mean landholders and regional communities could be locked out of consultation and appeal rights, riding roughshod over their legitimate concerns.
  • It is the government's job to properly scrutinise the impacts of projects, not fast-track potentially dangerous developments for the profits of companies.
  • Please confirm that you will raise my concerns (and so many others) to the Committee review these dangerous laws.

Remember to thank them for their time!
