Protect Koalas, creeks and prime farmland from Glencore’s new mega-mine

Glencore has plans for a massive new coal mine in Central Queensland.  It will destroy close to 10,000 hectares of land that contains at least 7 major creeks and river systems, including the magnificent Theresa Creek, large areas of koala habitat and important farming land.

Glencore has an appalling record of corporate behaviour – this year they were convicted of bribery for their activities in Africa, described by the US attorney general as having a decade-long scheme to bribe foreign officials across seven countries.

Glencore is the largest coal mining company in Australia, and despite making claims about acting on climate it is now pursuing an aggressive coal expansion strategy here that would lead to massive greenhouse gas emissions.

Please make a quick submission to request improved Terms of Reference for Glencore’s EIS, so that they have to properly address the impacts of the mine on climate change, and lay out their corporate history.
